A large single-family house on Molet will soon become a home for two families. It will be divided into two apartments, a smaller one on the ground floor for the grandparents and a larger one on the first floor, for their daughter and her family. The original floor plan divided the apartment with a large corridor into two parts: a sleeping and living area. The sleeping area included a bedroom with a wardrobe and a bathroom, two children's rooms, an additional bathroom and an office. The living area had a kitchen with a dining room, and a pantry and large living room.

The client's wish was to open up the living area and create a larger open space with a kitchen, dining room and living room. In the sleeping area, they wanted to maintain the same number of bedrooms, but with just one bathroom, utility room and a smaller guest toilet. The whole area had to be more comfortable and less crowded at the expense of the office space, which was not needed anymore. The client preferred wooden flooring, a stone kitchen island with black accents, accompanied by bright and warm interiors.

The biggest challenge in the design of the central space was mainly the excessive number of openings, which made it impossible to place high kitchen elements, and the investor did not intend to interfere with the exterior of the building, nor to close the existing openings. A bigger challenge was also removing the load-bearing wall and replacing it with a metal lintel, while preserving the fireplace right next to the lintel.

The result is a spacious and warm, homely atmosphere with dark accents in the form of vertical lines of shelves, door partitions and other accessories in individual rooms.
