The old, prefabricated fruit and vegetable shop right next to the roundabout was in urgent need of renovation. The owner wanted a new, constructed building, much larger than the old shop, with the possibility of additional space for offering meat or fish. In addition, he still needed as many parking spaces as possible. We were limited in the design mainly by the large distance required from the road and by the existing underground installations and pipes, which are numerous in that area.

The resulting shape of the building is, therefore, the result of the maximum utilisation of the plot. Due to the large difference between the size of the old and the new building, we designed the structure in such a way that its impact on the surroundings would be as small as possible. We took into account the layout of the roofs of the neighbouring buildings, the effects of strong winds on the entrances to the premises and the least conspicuous facade. In addition, we equipped the building with large glazing that serves as shop windows. We placed a line of trees along the edge of the road, which are used both for shade and for a safer pedestrian crossing.
